The mission of the MAD Women is to support women and girls of West Tennessee.

We believe that empowering women strengthens the entire community.

Our core values include: access to healthcare and reproductive rights; opportunity through jobs and education; political strength through voting and support of candidates; feminism and civil rights for all; violence prevention and intervention; support of families, elderly and children; access to information; and a safe and protected natural environment.

Thank you to all of the amazing applicants to our first Sue Shelton White Scholarship! Submissions are closed for the 2020 contest. Its been great to learn about so many wonderful women! We will be announcing the recipient in March. Check back here soon for more.

Sue Shelton White, Jackson native and suffragist, was instrumental in the passing of the 19th Amendment in 1929, giving U.S. women the constitutional right to vote. The Madison Area Democratic Women honors her memory with a $2,500 scholarship award to a "non-traditional" woman student, perhaps returning to study while working or raising children. MORE

The MAD Women meet regularly the first Tuesday of the month, 6:00 p.m. at Jackson State Community College, Health Sciences Building. Check calendar for exceptions and events:
